A new life in the third world

I’m a terrible writer. I mean, I think I’m a decent enough WRITER, but the business of writing… I’ve always kind of struggled with. If you’ve followed me for very long you know the truth of this. I don’t post often enough, I’m all over the place with my subject matter, I don’t promote my work much at all. However. All of that is about to change. Well, most of it. I’m still going to be all over the place with my subject matter. Because I’m in the first stages of moving to a third-world-country to live a life of adventure and take perhaps the greatest risk of my life: on love.

This whole wild adventure started a couple years ago when I met a Colombian adventure guide. We hit it off right away, but I lived in the US. And he lived here. But he messaged me regularly while I was home and then a friend asked me to visit again, and I thought, well, I could see the Wild Man again too. But at the end of that second trip we both knew there could be more between us.

I visited a third time, just before the pandemic hit in 2020 and at the end of that trip we knew whatever we have together is real. And something really special.

So here I am, at a cafe in Villa de Lleyva, Colombia, in the first stages of moving here to start a new life. And I’m SO freaking excited. And terrified to risk my heart. And hopeful. And a little sketched out by the bathrooms here.

But I’m doing it because I would regret it if I didn’t. Because I want to live a life of adventure. Because there’s no better reason to take huge risks than for the possibility of a great love.

There’s already been so many wonderful stories. The kind that make you think that magic is real. And there’s the kind that will make you laugh. Or feel like you might cry. And I want to share them with you. Because, well, I’m a writer.

So. I started a Patreon. If you’d like to live this adventure along side of me, I’d love to have you join me there. (https://www.patreon.com/authorjaclynlanae?fan_landing=true)

Hugs and love from south of the Equator.
